Bridgewater has put out an interesting table as part of one of their research packets in which they summarize some of the most important historical balance of payment crises. Included are what happened to the currency, growth, interest rates, sovereign spreads, and the current account. Interesting stuff, and could be somewhat useful when considering some of the countries that had a rough go of it earlier this year when tapering first came on the scene in May. The countries with balance of payment issues currently (and can be seen in the lower part of the table) include Turkey, South Africa, Brazil, Indonesia, and India.
